Would you like to be involved in the running of WICE? 

Volunteers are essential to our existence. If you have the skills we are looking for, we would love to hear from you. Please refer to the list of currently available volunteer positions below.

Events Manager

 

You will be part of the Marketing department.

 

Tasks:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate and promote the WICE Open House and/or Spring Launch which

take place in Spring and Fall

  • Promote WICE at local events in September in the current year to October the following

year (4-7 events)

  • Input event information on the WICE website
  • Keep track of event attendance data and produce short reports for larger events
  • Assist with related event marketing tasks as needed

  • Experience organizing or managing events
  • Excellent people skills
  • Professional attitude
  • Ability to stay focused, proactive and handle responsibility
  • Ability to delegate
  • Can adhere to deadlines
  • Computer literacy - ability to navigate a back office a plus
  • A strong desire to put your skills to use volunteering
  • French language skills a plus but not required

 

Start/End Date of Position:

Open House: Must be available full-time in September and at least on a part- time basis in late August and early October. Candidates wishing to continue volunteering after this time may do so.

Spring Launch: Must be available on a part- time basis in January and February. Candidates wishing to continue volunteering after this time may do so.

LIVING IN FRANCE DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR

Are you interested in providing a program of activities that enhance the experience of living in France for people both new to Paris and those who want to delve deeper into the City’s secrets?  Through the provision of a program of practical courses such as cooking and wine tasting, and an insight into the City itself through Paris Walks by Arrondissement and visits to gardens both historic and new, the Living in France Department aims to do just that.

Key Tasks

  • Liaise with individual course directors regarding scheduling and course content
  • Communicating information to attendees of courses
  • Answering queries via email
  • Maintaining and updating information on the WICE course database

Time Commitment

  • 5-6 hours per week on average.
  • Can work from home but must be available for meetings at the office from time-to-time

Start/End Date: 

  • Immediate start
  • 12 month commitment preferred



 

NEWSLETTER EDITOR

We are looking for native English speaker(s) to write and edit our bi-weekly e-newsletter, WICE Direct. The newsletter used to promote upcoming courses and events to subscribers.

The e-newsletter is produced using an e-mail editing program and full training will be given.

WICE Direct is crucial to the success of WICE courses and events as it is the main means by which we promote events.  Please consider the time commitment required for this role before applying.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and non-written
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to plan workload to meet strict deadlines
  • Able to commit to at least one academic year in post
  • Able to respond to promotional requests in a timely manner

Time Commitment: Minimum  of 4-6 hours per week on each issue. Work can be done either in the WICE Office or at home.

WEBSITE COURSE CONTENT EDITOR

Do you have experience with web publishing?

This role will require you to work closely with the web editor, webmaster, and the WICE Programs team to ensure accuracy and consistency of information content and design prior to loading on the website.

Key Tasks

  • Proofreading course content information before it is  “made live”
  • Uploading all event entries and images to the WICE website
  • Maintaining and updating the Style Guide
  • Periodically looking over the site to ensure text and images are correct/up to date. (Shared with Operations Director)
  • Assisting new volunteers

Required skills:

  • Experienced with use of Google Mail and Google Docs
  • Strong writing & editing skills
  • Fluency in English and aware of the differences between English and American spelling, usage and punctuation

Time Commitment

  • Average 4-5 hours per week
  • More hours at the busy course loading times June and late August/early September and December/January
  • Flexibility to work at home

Start/End Date

  • Immediate start
  • 12 month commitment preferred

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Only apply if you are currently living in Paris
  • Positions are only open to applicants who can commit to a minimum of six months - 1 year
  • WICE membership is required for Director and Deputy Director roles
  • Time commitment required varies for each position but on average 3-4 hours each week with some availability during business hours
  • Some work may be completed at home but time "on-site" will also be required
  • WICE is closed in summer - July and August
