Are you interested in Indian painting and culture? Have you always wanted to understand and identify Indian visual elements in Indian miniatures and folk art?  If so this course will certainly appeal to you.

Indian painting has a very long tradition and history.  This course will introduce you to the rich cultural heritage of India as seen through Indian miniatures, fesco (Ajanta), folk and tribal art.  We will first study the impact of religion on Indian painting and the iconography of the principal Indian gods and goddesses.  We will then talk about the history of Indian painting in different regions of India.  We are confident that after this course whenever you see an Indian painting, you will be able to identify it and appreciate it more!

About the instructor: Setareh Feylizadeh is an artist and freelance graphic designer.  In 2009 she went to India and became deeply interested in Indian art, and she decided to carry out a serious study on Indian art history. She stayed in India until 2015 and researched Indian Painting.  Her Ph.D thesis’ theme was about the comparative study on Iranian and Indian art in 16th and 17th century.
