David Young is an award-winning British novelist whose crime-thriller series is set in the Cold War bleakness of 1970s East Germany.  His debut novel, Stasi Child, was published in 2015 to widespread acclaim. The fifth in the series (it was originally planned as a trilogy), Stasi Winter, was published this year.

Young’s novels mix sinister twists while drawing on the fear and paranoia of life in communist East Germany.

With fantastic attention to detail, including the use of German language for authenticity, [Stasi Child] appears educational as well as extremely pleasurable.
