Heartbreaking and Heart-warming, In The Name Of Your Daughter is an intimate fly-on-the-wall documentary about some of the world’s bravest girls,  children like feisty 12-year old Rosie Makori who ran away from  home to follow her dreams.

Terrified of stories of girls bleeding to death, Tanzanian girls as young as eight must face the most difficult choice of their young lives: submit to female genital mutilation and child marriage, or risk their lives and run away, not knowing if they’ll ever see their families again.

Rhobi Samwelly, one of Africa’s most charismatic women, protects the girls – Christians, Pagans and Muslims – at her Safe House, and travels around the countryside fighting against this thousands-year-old tradition.

Set in the stunning landscape of East Africa’s Serengeti district, In The Name Of Your Daughter amplifies the voices of children whose voices have never been heard before; it is a hopeful and inspiring story, beautifully and sensitively filmed, that celebrates the brave young girls who are standing up for their human rights and for change in their community.

The film will be followed by a Q and A session with Director Giselle Portenier.

Details on registration payment will be sent on your confirmation email.
